A 25-year-old man who was brutally murdered by suspected herders was buried in his hometown in Adamawa state.
The deceased, identified as Sheriff Yongo de Dong in the Demsa Local Government Area of Adamawa State, was killed by assailants as he returned from the Congress of the Lutheran Church of Christ of Nigeria (LCCN) in Numan.

Two other people, identified as Gambo Dong and Benedict Paul, managed to escape the brutal attack that took place on Saturday, 5 March. He was buried on Tuesday, March 8.
Eyewitnesses Gambo and Benedict told reporters about the incident that the attackers, believed to be Fulani herdsmen, were ambushed at night outside Dong village and attacked them on their way home after an evening church assembly session.
“They shined a tactile light on us, and, group by group, we ran into the bushes as the attackers took the sheriff. We waited to see him, but to no avail, only to find that his body was paired up, beaten, and his hand and fingers severed.”
“These brutal killings continue along the Dong axis, we have lost so many young people, and kidnappings have also increased.”
According to Gambo, the late sheriff is part of Dong’s primary health care team.

Meanwhile, the Adamawa State Assembly asked the administration led by Ahmadu Governor Umaru Fintiri to clarify the circumstances that led to the young man’s murder.
The assembly at its meeting on Tuesday, chaired by its president, Aminu Iya Abbas, made a decision and asked the government to launch an investigation to clarify the causes of the incident.
In addition, the assembly asked the executive and security guards to increase the number of security guards in the Dong community, significantly to reduce security threats.
The gentlemen unanimously sent words of comfort and condolences to the immediate family, especially the deceased, the Dong community and the entire LGA Demsa in relation to the attack.
The assembly’s action was the consequence of a matter of urgent public interest brought to it by the Dems constituency representative, Honorary Kate Raymond Mamuno.
