A Kenyan woman has been charged in court with biting off her lover’s ear during an argument over the lack of tariff.

Zainab Ochero allegedly committed this act after Joseph Karanja gave her KSh100 to take her home.
On Tuesday, March 1, Ochero was unlawfully charged with causing serious bodily harm to Karanja in Kibera courts.
He allegedly injured him on February 21 in Kangemi, Nairobi, at a bar where they drank around 2 a.m.
The two disagreed with resolving their relationship issues by bringing up the issue of infidelity.
Mr. Karanja reportedly called Ms. Ochero to meet him at Kangemi’s bar to discuss his case, and she left, but they disagreed, and she went to see him in Kawangware.
A few hours later, he called back, and she joined him at the bar, and they continued to discuss the infidelity over drinks.
He accused her of having affairs with other men, and an argument ensued as they continued to have drinks amid the bickering.
After they could not agree, Ms. Ochero asked Mr. Karanja to hire a bodaboda to take her to his house in Kawangware, but he gave her 100 Sh.
Ms. Ochero told police she insisted that Karanja hire a gentleman from Bodaboda to take her home, but Karanja reportedly started insulting her.
She also told officers that she was completely drunk and only remembered waking up at Kangemi Police Station on the same day.
Karanja took his ear to the hospital, but his attempts to stitch it back proved unsuccessful after doctors said reconstructive surgery could not be performed because the ear was not working.
The suspect denied the allegations before Magistrate Charles Mwaniki.
She was released on bail of 300,000 shillings.
The question will be raised on March 16.
