GOVERNOR Willie Obiano of Anambra State is to invite President Mohammadu Buhari to commission the completed Ziks Mausoleum at Inosi Onira, Onitsha, residence of the first President of Nigeria, late Dr Nnamdi Azikiwe.
The Governor gave the hint during an inspection visit to the Mausoleum as well as inspection of ongoing construction at the Second Niger Bridge, Onitsha. The Ziks Mausoleum houses halls, museum and archives, conference halls, library, video display room, among others.
Expressing satisfaction with the quality of work done on the facility, Governor Obiano said that it is a plus to President Buhari’s administration, as the project has been abandoned for the past twenty three years, noting that the building is yet to be equipped with furniture and necessary artifacts, which should be done to further enrich its value.
The Governor who emphasised the importance of the project to the people of the South East, Nigeria and the African Continent, stated that he will inform the President of his visit to the site and invite him afterwards to commission the facility which he said is his legacy project.
On a similar development, Governor Obiano also paid an inspection visit to the Second Niger Bridge.
The Bridge which totals about one point six kilometers long, has access road of about three point three kilometres from Delta end and seven kilometers from Anambra State.
He said as you can see the Foundation piling on the bridge is ongoing which is over fifty meters deep.
The Director of the Project, Mr Fredrick Wieser said that the federal government has released fifteen percent mobilisation totaling over thirty billion naira, and disclosed that the piling work will be completed by June this year.
Mr Wieser who said that according to the contract, the project delivery time is twenty-eighth February 2022, noted that the water level which has gone down will enable them work with full force, adding that the project needs continuous funding to ensure prompt delivery.
In his remarks, Governor Obiano expressed happiness that the President has released such amount of money for the project, which he pointed out that past administrations hadn’t achieved, expressing optimism that the project will be completed as scheduled.
The contract sum for the Second Niger Bridge Project is two hundred and six billion naira.
